Ten Trinity Square’s Luxurious Interiors

A jewel in historic London, Ten Trinity Square’s show apartment is being dressed by Martin Kemp with accents of almond gold, Italian marble, and fine silks

As if stunning views, irresistible amenities, and a location in the very heart of London aren’t enough to make the residences at Ten Trinity Square the most desirable in England’s Capital,Martin Kemp — of eponymous Martin Kemp Design — has been appointed to make the interiors of the show apartment extra special. Known for producing some of the world’s finest solutions for interiors — as well as yachts, private jets, cars, and furniture — MKD has been working with developer Reignwood Investments UK to bring to life Ten Trinity Square. It’s an exciting example of how the existing base palette — timelessly designed, using neutral, earth tones that reflect the classicism of the building — can be personalized and enhanced to suit individual tastes and needs.

The heart of the apartment is the reception room, with its three distinct areas. Silk rugs add the finishing touch to the herringbone timber floors.

From refining the natural flow and layout of the property to hand-selecting the paintings, Martin Kemp’s designs sympathetically reflect the project’s blend of old and new. He says, “Formerly the headquarters of the Port of London Authority, the Grade II*-listed Ten Trinity Square is a colossal Beaux Arts design by Sir Edwin Cooper, therefore we were passionate about ensuring our designs were sympathetic to the original features. We adopted a pale palette that reflected the traditional elements of this historic building and harmonized furnishings with an equally timeless appeal and aesthetic.”

The show apartment is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the building, and is one of the only residences that is solely accessed through the grand main entrance of the building. Characterized by exquisite Italian and granite flooring, entering the apartment is an impressive experience that sets the tone for the rest of the space. The hallway is framed by hand-stitched leather and bronze-tinted mirrored panels with an almond-gold metal trim. Striking vintage Murano glass chandeliers are complemented by a bespoke black walnut and gold metal console table. Another vintage 1960s Murano glass ‘torpedo’ chandelier sits above the marble and ebony-topped dining table.

But for Kemp the apartment has an attraction that outshines the other desirable features. “The view is simply spectacular and epitomizes London past and present, with the reception room overlooking the Tower of London, the River Thames, and Tower Bridge,” he says. “We wanted to ensure that the layout of the apartment maximized these views while creating a natural flow between the different areas.

The magnificent terrace, with uninterrupted views of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, is accessed via a spiral staircase from the reception room.

The reception room has been divided into three areas: a formal seating area, an informal lounge, and a dining space; the seating areas are set along the façade to ensure views are not interrupted by the dining table. The apartment also features an outdoor terrace highlighting the sweeping, panoramic views across the River Thames, taking in numerous iconic landmarks including the Tower of London.”

Kemp has deliberately chosen the soft color palette, accented with hints of almond gold, antique bronze, and marble to “complement the light, airy feel of the apartment, and accentuate the view.” This is further enhanced with some beautiful lighting installations individually selected by Kemp himself, “to add additional character to the spaces.” The overall feel is of a contemporary and sophisticated home, underpinned by superb craftsmanship evident in the specially commissioned bespoke pieces and refined details that give the feeling of incomparably luxury.
