Golf’s first major of the year, The Masters Tournament, returns to Augusta National Golf Club April 6-9. An elite field of 88 golfers, led by the defending champion and World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, will compete over four days on the legendary par-72 course, designed by Dr. Alister Mackenzie and Bobby Jones, in pursuit of one of sports’ most coveted prizes: the illustrious Green Jacket.
In honor of the tournament, Luxury Defined presents five homes on or just a soft 7-iron off some of the world’s finest fairways, including Bermuda’s Mid Ocean Club, a favorite of Winston Churchill; Sardinia’s Pevero Golf, among the world’s most beautiful (and challenging) courses; and Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo, a “top-100” course and Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Discerning golfers can choose from private estates with their own putting greens and leisure amenities or resort villas in gated communities, offering a bespoke lifestyle with access to courses designed by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and other legends of the game. Fore! Forever, fore!
This delightful family compound sits on 2.23 hilltop acres overlooking the azure-blue waters of Castle Harbour and the bentgrass greens of Bermuda’s legendary Mid Ocean Club.
Built in 1926 and beautifully restored in 2010, the property comprises the main house, Atlanta By The Sea, and the charming guest cottage, Jolly Roger. The main house blends European style with Bermuda charm. A major renovation by Bermudian architect David Benevides and technological updates since then have brought the four-bedroom home into the 21st century.
Beyond the house is an outdoor swimming pool and the Jolly Roger, a four-bedroom cottage currently configured as two self-contained suites. The grounds are graced with flowering plants, an immense poinciana tree, rock gardens, and landscaped lawns backing onto the 16th hole of the Mid Ocean Club course, ranked no. 33 on Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Golf Courses.”
Located in the heart of Tucker’s Town, the property is minutes away from a private dock and moorings, beaches, and restaurants.
The villa Casa Puma in Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo Resort is the only home on the 18th green of the Four Seasons Arnold Palmer Signature Course and Golf Club.
The property is the perfect backdrop for tropical living at its finest, offering breathtaking views of the rainforest and the Pacific Ocean.
Six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms provide ample accommodation for residents and guests. Each suite is equipped with king-sized beds, walk-in closets, oversized bathtubs, indoor and outdoor showers, and sliding-glass doors to take in the views of Culebra Bay.
The owner’s wing features a media room and an executive office with a large exterior deck facing the golf course and spectacular ocean and jungle vistas. A large laundry utility room has service quarters with a full bathroom.
The spacious two-car garage can also accommodate ATVs. The outdoor living area opens to a beautiful infinity pool and Jacuzzi, all within a large, covered deck, complete with an outdoor grilling kitchen and another spectacular ocean view.
This luxury villa on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda overlooks the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and the emerald fairways of Pevero Golf Club, one of Europe’s most beautiful courses.
The main residence has a multi-level floor plan with four en suite bedrooms. The double living room is one of several rooms opening to a wide wraparound veranda overlooking the pool.
The kitchen, with adjoining laundry room, leads into a formal dining area and out to a patio with a view of the fairways. All bedrooms have a private patio to ensure maximum privacy, including the two suites in the guest residence, a self-contained dwelling with a living room and kitchen.
The gardens are organized on different sides of the villas to ensure guests can relax in complete privacy. After a round of golf, residents can lounge by the resort-style swimming pool or on one of several outdoor living spaces overlooking the golf course, verdant hillsides, and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Porto Cervo’s famous Hotel Cala di Volpe is a short walk away.
The aptly named Villa Calm overlooks holes 11, 12, 13 and 16 of the course at The Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort on Spain’s Costa del Sol.
This six-bedroom, nine-bathroom home has everything for the luxury lifestyle, including a movie theater, tennis court, football pitch, gym, and even a wellness center (with indoor pool, spa, sauna, and Jacuzzi), offering respite after a long day on the fairways.
The airy, open-plan reception areas lead out to a deck with a vast infinity pool and an outdoor “living room” with a media lounge and firepit.
Owners enjoy access to the luxury amenities of The Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort, one of the Leading Hotels of the World.
This idyllic Low Country cottage has a tranquil setting in the Ford Field and River Club, a private golf and equestrian community on Georgia’s great Ogeechee River.
The property is tucked away on two secluded, wooded acres backing onto the rolling greens of the club’s Pete Dye-designed golf course. The French Colonial-style main house invites elegant entertaining, both indoors and outdoors.
A great room, gourmet kitchen, large screened-in back porch, and enclosed sunroom are a few of the interior highlights. Outside, a custom brick-paver patio, shaded by Spanish Moss-draped oaks, is the ideal spot to take in the views of the fairways.
The property also includes a separate two-car garage, golf cart shed, and a private dock on Lake Sterling. Savannah is just 20 minutes’ drive.
